Bumble Bee Children’s Day Nursery encourages the children to develop and learn through play. It also structures these play opportunities using the balanced curriculum that has been designed to reflect best practice.
We use the new Early Years Foundation Stage Standards (EYFS) for Learning and Development and Care for children.
The Early Years Foundation Stage has four Themes A Unique Child, Positive Relationships, Enabling Environments, Learning and Development; these four guiding themes work together to underpin effective practice in the delivery of the EYFS.
Each principle is supported by four commitments that describe how the Principle can be put into practice.
A Unique Child - Child Development; Inclusive Paractice; Keeping Safe; Health and Well-Being
Positive Relationships - Respecting each other; Parents as Partners; Supporting Learning; Key Person.
Enabling Environments - Observation, Assessment and Planning; Supporting Every Child; The Learning Environment; The Wider Context.
Learning and Development - Play and Exploration; Active Learning; Creativity and Critical Thinking; Areas of Learning and Development.

For successful delivery of these principles the nursery uses the following six areas of Learning and Development.
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
Communication, Language and Literacy
Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy
Knowledge and Understanding of the World
Physical Development
Creative Development
The six areas of Learning and Development make up the skills, knowledge and experiences appropriate for babies and children as they grow, learn and develop. All areas of learning and development are connected to one another and are equally important.
